There are many good gizmos that are making life easier and the world a friendlier place for the visually impaired. Starting from having to tell the time of day, talking wrist watch and clocks are giving the Braille watches a back seat. Talking watches are much more convenient for the visually impaired as they can tell the time at the touch of a button and do not need to have the operator go through extensive training.

In the same league are the talking calculators and the currency note readers. These two gizmos really prevent the visually impaired from being cheated by some unscrupulous persons. The administration has done their bit at the traffic lights. More places in the world are installing talking signals at pedestrian crossings. A touch of a button on the signal pole will announce to the person to stop or walk.

Then there is the ultimate talking gadget: the talking cooking utensil for the visually impaired. These are a list of talking gadgets such as a talking microwave oven, talking measuring mugs, cook books on tape and a host of other talking cooking gadgets such as a container that makes a sound when the liquid is boiling or a cup that sounds an alarm when it is nearly full. Talking gadgets do not really mean that the gadgets talk English or something. The gadget just has to emit a sound that alerts the visually impaired person of an impending occurrence. Companies and people around the world are working on innovative gadgets that will, someday, make a visually impaired person actually see.
